Kirsten Alderdice

Biography

Family transitions often come with big emotions—especially when children are involved. Kirsten Alderdice brings a rare blend of education, child-development expertise, and family-law training to her work, helping parents navigate conflict, communication, and court processes with a focus on stability and long-term outcomes for children.

Originally from New England and Charlotte, Kirsten relocated to the Triangle in 2014. She earned her B.S. in English Education from Boston University and her M.Ed. from North Carolina State University, then spent eight years teaching middle and high school English. Through years of advocating for students with diverse learning and support needs, Kirsten saw how deeply family dynamics and transitions affect children—and she decided law school was the best way to help families move through change with more clarity and support.

Kirsten joined Ellis Family Law while attending North Carolina Central University School of Law’s Evening Program (2022). She brings graduate-level insight into child and adolescent development, along with extensive real-world experience working with families.

Kirsten also offers specialized credentials that are especially valuable in high-conflict and co-parenting matters:

  • Licensed, court-appointed Parenting Coordinator serving the Triangle area
  • Certified Collaborative Divorce attorney
