Biography

Family law cases require more than legal knowledge—they require a steady counselor who can guide you through uncertainty and a determined advocate who will protect what matters most. Sarah Gerow approaches every case with that balance: patient, strategic support paired with strong advocacy when the stakes are high.

Sarah’s commitment to helping others started early. While in college, she worked as a summer camp counselor with children with disabilities—an experience that strengthened her desire to advocate for people during vulnerable seasons of life. She went on to attend the University of North Carolina School of Law, where she focused on education and family law.

After marrying her husband, a member of the North Carolina Army National Guard, Sarah developed a concentrated practice in military divorce while working as an associate at Sullivan & Hilscher Family Law. She represents clients in a wide range of family law matters, including spousal support, equitable distribution, child custody, child support, and domestic violence.

Sarah also brings a key niche that can make a significant difference in military cases: experience advising attorneys in North Carolina and across the country on military retirement benefits—an area where details matter and mistakes can be costly.

What you can expect when working with Sarah

  • Calm, step-by-step guidance so you feel supported and informed throughout the process
  • Special insight in military divorce matters, including retirement and benefit considerations
  • Compassionate, thorough advocacy focused on protecting your family, finances, and future

Outside of work, Sarah is a devoted dog mom to two rescue pups, Sonny and Boston, and enjoys time with her husband, reading, and horseback riding.

If your case involves military service—or you simply want an attorney who will counsel you patiently and advocate for you relentlessly—schedule a consultation with Sarah and the Ellis Family Law team.
